Each year 1.2 trillion gallons of untreated sewage, stormwater, and industrial waste are dumped into US water. 40% of America's rivers and 46% of America's lakes are too polluted for fishing, swimming, or aquatic life. That is in the US alone. All that water through connecting rivers, evaporation and rain eventually finds its way into our oceans.
71% of our planet is water. The ocean regulates our climate and weather, it absorbs carbon dioxide, holds 97% of the Earth's water, and most importantly supports the greatest abundance of life on our planet. The majority of protein consumed worldwide comes from our oceans.
Through pollution and overfishing our beloved ocean is hurting. More species are becoming endangered and contaminated waters are poisoning not only wild species but humanity as well.
My goal is to spread awareness and conservation efforts. Together we can save our oceans, our rivers, our lakes and all in all, our planet. Follow and join me through scientific literature, dive trips, beach trips and volunteer trips and plain out adventures to help the fight against pollution.
